Pharmacies are concentrated in Rhodes Town. If you are staying in Faliraki, Lindos or the southern coastal villages, allow 20 to 60 minutes each way. Outside the season some village pharmacies close entirely.

Local tipRhodes is sharply seasonal. Between November and March activity in the villages contracts and the town is the dependable address. Plan around the month you are travelling, not the average.

When to come, and what changes

From April to October the island runs at full capacity with frequent direct flights. Between November and March the picture changes completely: coastal villages empty out, many businesses close, and direct flights thin out. Rhodes Town itself continues to operate as an ordinary town throughout.

Planning your timing

The short flight makes Rhodes a long-weekend destination. On that kind of schedule, a prescription that arrives on day three is a prescription you missed. Anyone travelling for three or four days should start before the trip, not during it.

The process is the same everywhere in Greece, and the prescription is valid at any licensed pharmacy in the country. You fill in a questionnaire, a Greek-licensed physician reviews it and decides independently, and if approved you receive a digital prescription in your passport name.

What people ask us

I'm in Faliraki. Is it worth driving into Rhodes Town?
Faliraki is about 15 minutes from town, so it is not a problem. Villages further south — Lindos or Prasonisi — mean a much longer drive, and there it is worth planning the pharmacy visit for a day you are heading into town anyway.
I'm arriving in February. Is everything closed?
Not everything, but a lot. Rhodes Town operates year-round including pharmacies. In the coastal villages you will likely find very little open. Plan to redeem in town.
