Medical cannabis in Lefkada — for visitors
Lefkada is the only Greek island you can drive to. That sounds like trivia, but it is precisely what makes collecting a prescription here simpler than on any other island — there is no ferry timetable between you and a pharmacy.

01 · Access
An island without a ferry
Lefkada is joined to the mainland at the Agia Mavra channel by a floating bridge, in place since 1986, which rotates open on a schedule to let boats pass. Everything else about the island behaves like an island; the arrival does not.
The airport that serves it is Preveza / Aktion (PVK), which is on the mainland. From there to Lefkada Town is roughly 20 km, about 20 to 30 minutes, and the bridge sits only about 1.5 km from the town itself.
02 · Where things are
The town, and everywhere else
Pharmacies are concentrated in Lefkada Town, at the northern tip of the island. The resort villages down the east and south coasts — Nidri, Vasiliki and the others — do have services, but the spread is thinner and some reduce their hours outside the season.
The island is long and narrow, so "how far from town" is the question that decides your day. Nidri is a straightforward drive; the southern and western corners take longer, and the west-coast roads above the famous beaches are slow by design.
Plan collection for your arrival day, or for a trip into town. The road in from the airport passes Lefkada Town anyway, so doing it on the way costs almost no detour — which is a much better plan than hunting for an open pharmacy in a resort village at seven in the evening.
03 · At the pharmacy
What happens at the counter
The process is the same everywhere in Greece: the prescription lives in the national e-prescription system, the pharmacist reads it from there, and you are identified by passport — no Greek social security number needed. The passport number on the prescription must match the one you present exactly.
Greek pharmacy opening hours are set regionally, with mandatory opening Monday to Friday only, and a legally binding duty rota covering evenings and weekends that is posted on the front of every closed pharmacy. The detail is on the redemption page, and the official prices — identical at every pharmacy in the country — are on the pricing page.
04 · Season
When to come, and what changes
Lefkada runs a conventional Ionian season. In summer the island is busy and everything is open; in the low season the resort villages contract and Lefkada Town becomes the reliable centre — the same pattern as elsewhere, softened by the fact that the town is easy to reach.
